Week Three (Delicious- Authentic Materials- Comment on a final project)

Hi Everyone,

This week is a special one. I have learnt interesting new things. I hope I can benefit my students from these things.

I have learnt how to create a page on Delicious, Which is like a store for one's favourite web site, Though I have tried Google Bookmarks, I think Delicious is different. I have also got some overall views about the final project through commenting on one project provided this week. I think I will do well in my project. Finally, there was a discussion about the benefit of using authentic materials. I got some ideas from my Colleague Hacer and I am waiting for Robert's opinion.

Hope I can do well in the following weeks,

Said Hassan

    1. Hi Luis,
I have an ordinary class with desks and a whiteboard but we have a modern lab at the school. I am teaching teens with good ability to deal with computers.
      Have a nice weekend

  3. HI Said,

I think your discussion about the benefit of using authentic materials is very beneficial ,but remember that motivation is an essential part to accomplish your educational goal whatever the obstacles are .Hence, it is a must to discuss more than 35 motivational strategies and extract from them what is suitable for us to apply .I see if you applied most of these strategies my friend Said ,you will Keep the class goals achievable and Increase the students’ expectancy of success in particular tasks and in learning in general. you can download the list here.

  4. Hi Said
In the discussion thread, Belal added some points I fully agree with. I think you need to consider the students level when selecting materials. You can't just give pure authentic to beginners. Still, I can think of some materials, like a short restaurant menu, that can be used even with beginners. But generally I tend to use more "constructed" materials with beginners and more authentic materials with more advanced students. Personally I see authenticity as one of many things I consider when choosing material.
